After six years in Clarksdale, we hoped to begin our 7th year on a high . . . but things never turn out the way you plan.  In the early morning hours this past Friday, Frank “Rat” Ratliff died, quickly and unexpectedly.  We lost so much with his passing!  Staying at the Riverside Hotel was as much a chance to visit with him, a coming home for guests, as it was a place to rest you head after a long night of blues, brews and bbq!

The first time I met “Rat”, I held out my hand and he said “forget that, I hug the ladies!”  From that moment our friendship was sealed.  We could always count on Rat to come by the museum and check on our progress, see how we were doing or bring by a new guest staying at the Riverside.

Last year, Frank Ratliff joined the Board of Directors of the Rock & Blues Museum, strengthening our ties to the community.  He was a valued member, providing insight into the areas rich history.  We are deeply saddened by the loss of this gentle gentleman.  To our dear friend “Rat”, we miss you, rest in peace.
